Reports reveal that Faran Tahir will be a new addition to the cast of the series reboot "Hawaii Five-0" for season 7. The actor only just finished filming his appearances on another show, "Prison Break: Sequel."

It was not disclosed though what role the "Prison Break" star will be taking on in "Hawaii Five-0," but it was made clear that it would not be the usual kind of role for the actor.

The seasoned actor will be starring on the series remake along with the regular cast, including Grace Park (Kona "Kono" Kalakaua), Alex O'Loughlin (Steve J. McGarrett), Masi Oka (Dr. Max Bergman), Daniel Dae Kim (Chin Ho Kelly), and Scott Caan (Danny Williams).

Tahir's addition to the cast could possibly get the viewership stats of "Hawaii Five-0" up, after rumors came out regarding the upcoming season being its last.

After the show was moved to a different timeslot, which falls on Fridays, its ratings have taken a slow but continuous dip from the usual robust performances. This gave rise to some speculations that the series may get cancelled, especially if those numbers do not go back up. The rising costs of filming the show, especially with its outdoor locations being beyond the usual circuit of locations for TV shows.

However, since the episodes are not serialized, some reports suggest that there is hope in keeping the show running by bringing in new players now and then. By doing this, it is even possible to keep it going for an indefinite period.

Fans have expressed they would like to see at least one more season of the show before it folds up. Although nothing has been said officially to this effect, it may be discouraging to get to a point where it may slip too far down to save. It seems taking on Tahir may just be in the nick of time and could help "Hawaii Five-0" go back up on the ratings ladder, one rung at a time.

"Hawaii Five-0" season 7 will debut Sept. 23, with its premiere episode titled "Mākaukau Ê»oe e Pāʻani" or "Ready to Play."
