'High School Musical 4' rumors: Zac Efron and Vanessa Anne Hudgens may return
It has been a while since "High School Musical 4" was confirmed by Disney, but as of now, no specifics have been revealed about the upcoming movie. Fans of the surprise hit will just have to speculate on when the movie will arrive and who will star in it. Consequently, a lot of people are hoping that the movie will have appearances from the original's lead couple, Troy Bolton (Zac Efron) and Gabriella Montez (Vanessa Anne Hudgens).
There are rumors saying that Troy and Gabriella could return as vocal coaches for the show. With the current star status that Efron and Hudgens have had since the first "HSM," it might be either too expensive for a TV movie to have them or their schedules may be too jam-packed. A cameo would be justified, however, since the two owe a lot to the first movie for giving them a jumpstart to their current popularity.
There are also rumors that Sharpay Evans (Ashley Tisdale) will also be making an appearance as Mrs. Darbus' assistant. Fans will remember Sharpay as the rich-girl-type villain who would go toe-to-toe with the lead protagonists, but it is said that Tisdale has shown reluctance to return for "High School Musical 4."
According to E! News, the movie will focus on a whole new group of characters in East High. One of the characters is Erin, the only girl on the soccer team who could be falling for rebel boy Derek. Derek is the boy who falls for Erin. He's a great soccer player and he teaches dance (secretly) to little girls. Another character is named Campbell, Sharpay and Ryan's cousin who also has a thing for Erin. A girl named Nathalie will also be in the movie. She is a cheerleader and Erin's best friend. Lastly, the movie will see Tamara, a former queen bee who wants to reclaim her spot at the top of the social ladder.
Speculations suggest that "High School Musical 4" will arrive late this year or early in 2017.
