'Homeland' season 6 news and release date: Creators and star comment on preparation

After five seasons of "Homeland," many are excited to see what the upcoming installment of Carrie's adventures.

Many have been intrigued by the political thriller that centers around Carrie, played by Claire Danes. The past seasons of "Homeland" have been well-received by critics, due to its political insight

With a new season expected, the producers and star of the show were able to share some details about what their process is in creating a stellar season. Since the series tackles delicate matter, creator Alex Gansa explained that they prepare by meeting with CIA officials as well as intelligence officers in Washington D.C. for a summit. During the trip, they learn about the relevant threats that America is currently facing. They explained that they speak with the team for three to five days in order to set the scene for the season ahead.

Gansa explained that the meetings have a great influence on the season. He said, "I cannot tell you how influential it is on the season. One by one, they come in. We usually block out a couple of hours for each person. So we get there at nine o'clock, we see two people before lunch, we sit down with someone at lunch, and then we see two or three people after lunch. So it's a full day, every day."

Danes also explained that it gives them a good direction for the narrative. However, they also stated that it is a challenge listening to everyone's opinions because it seems as though some people are trying to feed them with glamorous data.

Gansa said, "You can't take what everybody says at face value. Everybody's got an agenda, people come in and try to woo us to their idea."

With that, there is a lot in store for the season ahead. "Homeland" season 6 is expected to air sometime next year.
