'House of Cards' Season 5 release date, spoilers: Close ally betrays Frank Underwood; Frank's death will wrap up series?
There is not much information at this point about the plot of the political drama thriller "House of Cards" Season 5, although rumors are rife that the upcoming season will be the last for the show. Specifically, the original Netflix series is going to end next year, and it will possibly feature its lead character's death.
According to the latest reports, President Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is going to meet his death in Season 5, and it is going to happen in the hands of his most loyal ally. This close ally is none other than his chief of staff, Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly). This might be impossible as Stamper has proven himself to be Frank's most trusted henchman. However, Doug Stamper's betrayal will be manipulated by Frank's own wife, Claire Underwood (Robin Wright).
It is rumored that Stamper's romantic involvement with Leann Harvey will be used by Claire to her own advantage. Harvey is the reliable assistant of Claire, and she may be used by the first lady to manipulate Stamper. As Frank's right-hand man is madly in love with Harvey, he could actually do anything for her, even if it means to kill the person that he has served faithfully for years. With a little help from Doug's drug addiction, Claire and Leann may be able to control his actions.
In an interview with GQ Magazine, Neve Campbell, who plays the role of Leann Harvey, has teased that she has a very interesting role in the upcoming season of "House of Cards," which may have something to do with Claire's schemes to bring the president down.
Contrary to earlier reports that Season 5 will be released this year, The Baltimore Sun has confirmed that the production of the upcoming season will begin in the later part of the year in Maryland. If this is the case, then "House of Cards" will return in the early months of 2017
