With all eyes focused on Washington, D.C. for the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump, Netflix took the opportunity to announce the premiere date of "House of Cards" season 5.

In a post on Twitter, Netflix revealed that the DC-set political drama is scheduled to return for its fifth season on May 30. The Twitter post featured a video which played a somber recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, and it was captioned with the ominous statement: "We make the terror." Netflix also shared the teaser video on Youtube.

The line originated from the show's season 4 finale, when president Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey) said, "We don't submit to terror. We make the terror." In the same episode, Frank's wife, Claire (Robin Wright), broke the fourth wall for the very first time.

For the past seasons, Claire and Frank have been each other's strongest allies. In the upcoming season, loyal viewers of the show expect that their once-unbreakable relationship will finally show some weaknesses.

Aside from Spacey and Wright, "House of Cards" stars Michael Kelly as Doug Stamper, Neve Campbell as LeAnn Harvey, Jayne Atkinson as U.S. Secretary of State Catherine Durant, Derek Cecil as Seth Grayson, Joel Kinnaman as Governor Will Conway, and Paul Sparks as Thomas Yates.

After four seasons, Beau Willimon has stepped down from serving as the series' showrunner. Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese will be taking his place to serve as co-showrunners on the show's fifth season. The political drama series is produced by Donen/Fincher/Roth and Trigger Street Productions, Inc. in association with Media Rights Capital for Netflix.

Ever since its debut, "House of Cards" has enjoyed overall positive reviews from critics as well as its viewers. For its fourth season, Rotten Tomatoes has given the show a critical rating of 87 percent and an audience score of 93 percent.

"House of Cards" season five is scheduled to premiere on Tuesday, May 30, on Netflix.
