Houston Rockets trade rumors 2016: Rudy Gay to arrive by trading off Corey Brewer and K.J. McDaniels?
The Houston Rockets are reportedly working out a deal with the Sacramento Kings to acquire Rudy Gay, who has already expressed his desire to change teams next season.
This is according to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insider, who also claimed that the Rockets are not the only team hoping to take advantage of Gay's killer skills.
"League sources say while there are teams that have expressed interest in Gay—most notably the Houston Rockets—getting anything of real value back to what could be a one-year rental at Gay's price tag is hard math to make work," Kyler wrote.
However, the biggest risk that the Rockets will take if they decide to go for Gay is that it could only be a one-year rental knowing that he will be an unrestricted free agent next summer. But if the Rockets are keen on getting Gay, they might have to trade off Corey Brewer and K.J. McDaniels.
The team is also expected to partake in a three-way deal by also giving away Trevor Ariza to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who will in turn bring Ricky Rubio to the Kings.
That way, all three teams will get what they need for their roster. Also, the fact that there is not much legroom for more additions, the Kings will have to resort to trading Gay.
Meanwhile, Houston Rockets trade rumors also suggest that the Kings superstar DeMarcus Cousins is also a target for the Rockets, a priority even.
However, it will be tough for the team to cover the $34 million contract left for his two years with the franchise player's current team.
This would mean giving up some of its best and young talents, as the Kings would want to get the best value for their superstar as losing Cousins will be a huge void to fill.
So far, nothing is set in stone yet, but as the Rockets and the Kings continue their reinforcement efforts, fans might hear about some trades involving the teams soon.
