'How to Get Away with Murder' season 3 episode 10 spoilers: Midseason finale's big reveal raises new questions, mysteries

As promised, the ninth episode of "How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 revealed who was under the sheet. And with it, the show proved yet again how good it is at playing its cards right.

After revealing the whereabouts of one Keating Five member in the house fire flash forwards each week, "How to Get Away with Murder's" midseason finale pulled a fast one on its viewers by revealing that the dead person under the sheet had been Wes Gibbins (Alfred Enoch) all along. The interrogation room scene that previously made fans believe that he was alive actually happened hours before the fire at Annalise Keating's (Viola Davis) house.

It will be weeks before a new episode of "How to Get Away with Murder" airs, and when it does, it promises yet another major revelation. Who was the anonymous informant that ratted on Annalise regarding the official charges of arson and first degree murder? In an interview with TV Line, series creator Peter Nowalk said, "That's a big question in our first episode back, and we'll get an answer to that that is really shocking."

In the same interview, Nowalk also shared that the next episode of "How to Get Away with Murder" will also show what happened to Wes after he left the police station. Though not all questions will be answered right away, all loose ends will be tied up eventually, he added.

"By the end of the season, if not earlier, we'll find out what actually happened to him, and who killed him," Nowalk said.

Indeed, the house fire and the mystery of the dead person under the sheet paled in comparison compared to Nate Lahey's (Billy Brown) revelation that Wes had been dead long before the fire even started. In another interview with Entertainment Weekly, Nowalk shared that everyone is a fair suspect at this point, the main characters, the guest characters, and even the characters that have yet to be introduced. He also teased Ophelia Harkness' (Cicely Tyson) possible return as Annalise's mom, further adding that her appearance could open doors to a potentially heartbreaking moment when Ophelia sees her daughter in prison.

"How to Get Away with Murder" returns for the second half of its third season on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
