'How to Get Away With Murder' season 3 episode 12 spoilers: Annalise faces new charges as Nate's innocence is threatened

Frank's (Charlie Weber) confession may have put him in jail as a co-conspirator in the death of Wes (Alfred Enoch), but not even his best effort could take Annalise (Viola Davis) out of jail in the next episode of "How to Get Away With Murder."

The fight for Annalise's freedom is far from over as the prosecution brings forth a new charge against her to keep her in jail. Titled "Go Cry Somewhere Else," the episode will feature a tension-filled courtroom hearing as Bonnie (Liza Weil) tries to stand her ground against the people who are seeking to bring her mentor down. She has, so far, done a not-so-satisfying job of defending Annalise. How will she handle the new case that will be thrown their way?

The trailer for the episode also teases the appearance of an unforeseen ally in the form of Annalise's mother, Ophelia (Cicely Tyson), who assures her teary-eyed daughter that she is going to help fix things. The trailer also shows Bonnie threatening Nate (Billy Brown) that if Annalise goes down, he will go down along with her. But Nate seems very confident in his innocence and merely tells Bonnie not to threaten him ever again.

However, what happens when a trip to the morgue with Laurel (Karla Souza) to see Wes' body uncovers a significant piece of information that poses a threat to his own innocence? Will he still insist on siding with the law, or will he be an additional pawn in Annalise's fight for freedom?

Moreover, the detectives may have caught wind of Oliver's involvement and will be calling him in for questioning. Could this be the reason for the panic attack he gets in the episode trailer? Do the detectives know what he did with Annalise's phone, or have they caught him hacking into the prosecution's network?

In other news, Weil teased in an interview with TV Guide that the identity of the killer came as a surprise to the cast members themselves.

"Nope. No one guessed it," Weil said. "That tells you how surprising it was," she added.
