When the person responsible for Wes' (Alfred Enoch) murder is revealed to Laurel (Karla Souza) in season 4, she might have to choose between avenging Wes or keeping her ties with her father.

"How to Get Away With Murder" season 3 ended last week with the shocking revelation that Laurel's father, Mr. Castillo (José Zúñiga), and her childhood friend, Dominic (Nicholas Gonzalez), are responsible for killing Wes and are trying to frame Annalise (Viola Davis) for it.

None of the Keating 4 or Annalise's camp knows about it yet, but according to showrunner Pete Nowalk, Laurel will soon find out about her father's involvement in Wes' death.

In response to Dominic showing up right before Laurel shoots Charles Mahoney (Wilson Bethel), Nowalk explained, during an interview with Variety, that "I think Laurel is very smart. She's already processing the coincidence of that, and I think at this point, she knows there are no coincidences — especially when it comes to her father who is ultra powerful and very scary."

However, Laurel might find it difficult to feel the same rage that she had towards the Mahoneys with her father.

"I think it's sort of easier when it's not someone from your family, when you can point a finger at someone that isn't your family," Souza shared with E! News. She added that Laurel might not be able to handle the grief of losing Wes, and she might not be able to accept that it was her father who was behind it, and this might bring her inside a psych ward.

Meanwhile, Annalise and the rest of her team will have to start from zero, now that their fort has been burned down and that she might not be able to return to her position at the Hargrove University. Nowalk teased that even the Keating 4 may no longer want to go back to their lives as students.

However, Nowalk expressed his excitement at what's coming in season 4. "I'm just excited that really there are no rules. I'm just excited to really take a risk for what the show looks like," said Nowalk.

"How to Get Away With Murder" season 4 is expected to premiere by the end of 2017.
