In two weeks' time, "How to Get Away with Murder" will pick up on the mysterious death of Wes (Alfred Enoch) and how the predicament will mold the remaining Keating 4 and Annalise (Viola Davis) moving forward.

"Annalise is in a real pickle with this loss. Her life is going to get much more complicated and she's going to hit rock bottom — more so than we've ever seen. And that's fun, only because you get to see Viola [Davis] do it," creator Pete Nowalk told TVLine for a winter show premiere spoilers roundup.

For months, the bulk of the third season of "How to Get Away with Murder" was about the nagging mystery of who was under the sheet. Now that the midseason finale has answered that question, fans can now divert their attention and speculating skills to "who" killed Wes.

Obviously, given how everything was presented, it cannot be helped that fingers are pointing at Annalise especially when Wes was teased to have been turning the tables on her. But the cast members of the legal drama have their own hunches as to who has done the deed. Karla Souza, who plays Laurel, shares that she believes that the death of her boyfriend was enacted by the Mahoneys and coincidentally Enoch is on board with her.

"I think it's the Mahoneys," she told Entertainment Weekly in an earlier conversation. "They have the money and the means to contract someone to do such a barbaric thing, and they're not emotionally tied to it at all. I think it's ludicrous to think it would be Annalise or Nate. I don't think it's as sinister as that."

Even Liza Weil is leaning toward Souza's claim adding that the show is looking into a deep dive in the family who may have a hand on Wes' murder. Should this be the case, it would be a great relief for her character, Bonnie, knowing that the crime is not done by one of their own.

As to whether there is a chance that Wes will not be the only death to be witnessed by viewers, at least until the season wraps up, Nowalk gives a cleverly crafted answer revealing absolutely nothing specific.

"There's always a chance of someone else dying," the showrunner responds noncommittally. "But it's not my intention that someone always has to die to keep the show going. We've had a lot of dead bodies thus far, so the challenge is to find a different way to go."

"How to Get Away with Murder" season 3 returns with new episodes on Jan. 19, 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
