"How to Train Your Dragon 3" is delayed once again. The film was supposed to hit the cinemas on May 18, 2018, but fans will now have to wait a little longer before they see the next adventures of Hiccup (voiced by Jay Baruchel) and Toothless.

DreamWorks Animation has issued a press release (via Variety) announcing that the film's release date has been pushed back to March 1, 2019. This means the movie will come out a week before Marvel's "Captain Marvel" premieres. The studio did not explain why the film was delayed.

The release date for "How to Train Your Dragon 3" has already been pushed back multiple times. The film was originally scheduled to premiere this year, but it was moved to 2017. Last year, the date was changed once again to 2018.

DreamWorks has already canceled "The Croods 2" last month. Is "How to Train Your Dragon 3" also in trouble? Well, there's no need to worry. Collider's Nick Romano pointed out that the delays may have been caused by the restructuring at DreamWorks after Comcast's NBCUniversal acquired it earlier this year. He also noted that DreamWorks head Jeffrey Katzenberg's plan to release three films a year may have been a tad too ambitious.

Chris Katje of Screen Rant says the studio now plans to release two movies a year, which would explain all the rescheduling they have been doing.

Director Dean DeBlois is returning to direct the third "How to Train Your Dragon" film, and members of the original voice cast are also returning.

Here's the official synopsis (courtesy of Collider):

"As Hiccup fulfills his dream of creating a peaceful dragon utopia, Toothless' discovery of an untamed, elusive mate draws the Night Fury away. When danger mounts at home and Hiccup's reign as village chief is tested, both dragon and rider must make impossible decisions to save their kind."
