HTC 11 release date, news, specs rumors: Powerful smartphone to rival Galaxy S7, boasts dual-edge display, waterproof technology
Even though HTC has not yet confirmed the development the successor of the current HTC 10 smartphone, the rumors are rife that another flagship handset is now underway. According to the latest rumors, it is likely that the Taiwan-based tech giant will be unveiling the HTC 11 early next year, meaning that the company has already gone through the finishing stage of its production.
The HTC 10 is already an impressive device on its own, and it will be interesting to see what HTC could still do to give the handset a more sophisticated design and more powerful system performance. For starters, the HTC 11 is expected to be equipped with a new waterproofing technology that will make the smartphone more durable even when submerged in water or exposed to moisture.
Furthermore, the HTC 11 is expected to adopt a dual-edged screen display, very different from the usual flat screen design of today's handsets, Yibada reported. This is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge smartphone's design.
According to Game N Guide, the HTC 11 will sport a 5.5-inch screen with a display resolution of 2560 x 1440. Regarding its core specs, the handset is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 830 processor with 6GB RAM.
The camera features of the HTC 11 are also impressive with its rear camera ranging from 8MP to 12MP depending on the variant, while the front camera will be at 8MP plus a wide-angle snapper. The handset will also have better connector feature with the new USB Type-C port, replacing the old microUSB connector for faster data transfers and charging.
Other additional features of the HTC 11 include DualBand technology and NFC. Its connectivity options include Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities to DualBand, Direct and GPS with assisted GPS. It will also be able to support Beidou, GLONASS, Infrared, and Bluetooth v4.3.
HNGN noted that the HTC 11 is poised to outmatch this year's Samsung Galaxy S7 smartphones, as well as Apple's iPhone 7. Even though the rumored specs for the HTC 11 are top-of-the-line, it is not yet known how expensive the next flagship handset can get, although it is still not expected to become as expensive as the iPhone 7.
