HTC Bolt update, specs news: Device coming as HTC 10 evo globally?

HTC fans may already be aware of the new smartphone dubbed HTC Bolt, which is aptly promoted by world-famous Olympic sprinter Usain Bolt. Unfortunately, it's only available in the United States.

According to reports, the device is exclusive for Sprint subscribers for $25 per month. But customers can also opt to purchase it off-contract for $600 at Best Buy, The Radio Shack and Costco. There is no word yet regarding its global release but rumor has it that it will be making its way out soon to other markets across the world. However, it may not debut as HTC Bolt.

Serial tipster Evan Blass teased in his Twitter account the possible moniker of the device if it's released outside America. He claimed that it will be called HTC 10 evo and apparently, LlabTooFeR, another Twitter leakster, recently claimed the same thing as well.

This means that fans can expect to see the HTC Bolt smartphone in other countries soon. It's still to be known though if the device will still not be available in Canada despite the news saying that it will be released under a different name.

As for the specs and features, N4BB detailed that the HTC Bolt sports a 5.5-inch Super LCD display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It has an aluminum unibody, giving it a metallic premium feel. Aside from that, the device is also IP57 dust and water resistance.

Under the hood, one can find an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3 GB of RAM and 288 GB of storage space. It runs on the Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. One can also notice something missing in the device. It has removed its 3.5-mm headphone jack and replaced it with a USB-CT port instead. Found at the bottom of the device, it serves as the port for accessory connections and charging.

In terms of the camera specs, the HTC Bolt has a 16-megapixel rear camera with 4K video recording capability, f/2.0 lens aperture and Dual LED flash. At the front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Powering the device is a non-removable 3,200 mAh battery.
