HTC Ocean Note release date, specs rumors: 6-inch device to launch as HTC U Ultra on Jan. 12?
HTC is said to be unveiling three new devices from its Ocean lineup during a "For U" event scheduled for next week. One of the previously rumored devices, the Ocean Note, will reportedly launch as the HTC U Ultra.
The arrival of the HTC Ocean Note or U Ultra was seemingly confirmed by two reliable leaksters. LIabTooFer first announced on Twitter that the upcoming device would indeed be announced on Jan. 12 and that it will be available in single and dual-SIM variants. A day after, OnLeaks revealed to his social media followers that the Ocean Note would be called U Ultra and that it would feature a 6-inch display. Similar to earlier rumors, the tipster mentioned that the device will hot have the traditional 3.5 mm headphone jack.
According to a report from Taiwanese publication Eprice, the Ocean Note will arrive alongside the Ocean Master and the Ocean Smart. It is not known yet whether they will also launch with different names. However, it's possible that the new smartphone family will be released as the U series, starting with the U Ultra.
Some of the rumored specs for the Ocean Note include a USB Type-C port and a MediaTek Helio P10 processor. The device is also said to feature an impressive rear camera. According to the publication, it has the highest DxOMark ranking. Currently, the Google Pixel has the highest mark at 89, but with the HTC 10 already scoring an impressive 88, it isn't impossible for HTC's newest device to outscore Google's flagship smartphone. Furthermore, the Ocean Note is also said to have an Adaptive Audio function wherein the device detects the user's ear structure and adjusts the audio accordingly. The Ocean Note is said to come in three colors: Black, White and Blue.
Aside from the touted Ocean devices, the Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer is also rumored to be introducing the HTC X10.
More details will be announced by HTC during its press event on Thursday, Jan. 12.
