HTC One M9 Release Date, Specs Review: Bigger One M9 with Power Processor
HTC has just released the HTC One M9+, the follow-up device to its latest flagship smartphone, the HTC One M9, which was launched last month.
The HTC One M9+, hailed as a "bigger and better version" of the flagship model, was only launched for the Chinese market. HTC made it clear that it has no plans to release it in Europe.
The HTC One M9+ shows some improvements on the HTC flagship. Noticeably different is the screen on the HTC One M9+ which measures 5.2 inches, a little bigger than the 5.0 inches of the HTC One M9. It comes with a Quad-HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. As for it OS, it will come loaded with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop and will have HTC's Sense 7 UI layered on top of it.
Another improvement in the smartphone is the fingerprint scanner which has been integrated into the home button positioned between the speakers. Ultimately, HTC said the finger print scanner will be used to support biometric authentication, which is included in AliPay in China.
The processor also turned out to be a surprise when HTC announced that instead of using the Snapdragon 810 processor, it opted to use the octa-core MediaTek MT6795T processor clocked at 2.2GHz, and it is coupled with 3GB of RAM. One reason for the change could be that HTC decided not to take a chance with the Snapdragon 810 processor which it used on the HTC One M9 and is rumored to be overheating.
As for the onboard storage on the HTC One M9+ it will come with 32GB. It also has a memory slot which allows for the addition of up to 128GB of external storage.
The HTC One M9+ is similar to its smaller flagship sibling in design as both phones look alike and even come in similar colors. Coming to its cameras, HTC decided to use a 20-megapixel Duo camera at the rear and an UltraPixel camera on the front for selfies for the HTC One M9+.
