Huawei Honor 5A Plus release date and specs updates: Huawei announces new phablet, device to go on sale this month
Huawei Honor 5A Plus has been surrounded by rumors and speculations regarding its development and release date. New reports emerged showing the phablet's specifications on a benchmarking website.
Many fans are expecting the Chinese multinational networking and telecommunications equipment and Services Company to announce the device this month. According to a teaser on Weibo, the Huawei Honor 5A and Honor 5A Plus will be launched on June 12. The announcement was made; however, VR Zone reported that only the Huawei Honor 5A made it to the press event in China. Apparently, the company has yet to confirm the Honor 5A Plus. Many fans are now wondering if there will ever be a high-end variant of the device.
According to the publication, the upcoming handset is a much-improved device compared to its predecessor. The Huawei Honor 5A will carry a 5.5-inch HD display with a 1280 x 720-pixel resolution. The publication added that it will run on a Kirin 620 octa-core chipset, which is clocked at 1.2 GHz. Another variant of the phablet will carry Snapdragon 617 octa-core chipset from Qualcomm and will be clocked at 1.5 GHz.
Other features include 2 GB of RAM and a 16 GB internal storage capacity, which will be expandable through microSD. The device will also carry a 13 MP primary shoots with 28 mm wide-angle f/2.0 aperture lens. Many tech observers consider the main camera of Huawei Honor 5A pretty impressive for an entry-level smartphone. The selfie snapper of the device comes at 8 MP.
The upcoming smartphone will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a layer of Emotion UI 4.1 on top out of the box. Color variations are Black, Gold, Blue and White. According to reports, the device will start hitting the shelves on June 17 at 699 Yuan or $106. No reports of a western release as of the moment.
