Huawei Honor 6X release date, specs news: Phone features 5.5-inch display, Android 6 Marshmallow

Huawei is all set to release a new device next week and it's dubbed the Honor 6X. The company has already started sending out press invites for the launch which will take place in China.

As detailed in the invitation, the debut of the Huawei Honor 6X will be on Oct. 18. The specs and features of the device are still kept under wraps for now but because it has already been spotted on Chinese telecom equipment certification site TENAA last month, fans have some idea on what to expect.

The listing noted that the upcoming smartphone will be sporting a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1080 p resolution. It will also be equipped under the hood with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor paired with either 2 or 3 GB of RAM, which is similar to the device's predecessor, the Huawei Honor 5X.

As for the internal storage, it's detailed that it will be coming with 32 GB. A microSD card slot is expected for further memory expansion. It's also noted that the smartphone will be featuring a dual-camera setup at the rear with 13 megapixels.

It's not surprising anymore that it will be coming with dual cameras as the company has a partnership with Germany's Leica camera. It will come with a monochrome camera and a color camera. When taking a photo, the result will be a mixture of the images from the two sensors.

Up front is a 5-megapixel selfie snapper. The device will also have a fingerprint scanner at the rear and a USB Type-C port at the bottom. The Honor 6X will support dual-SIM capacity and will run on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

There is no word yet on how much the Honor 6X will cost but since the device is said to be a replacement to the Honor 5X, the new model is expected to carry a price tag that similar to its predecessor. The Honor 5X is currently priced at $195.
