Huawei is gearing up to release its latest flagship device, which is the Huawei Mate 9. But even before it could make its debut, leaks have surfaced ahead of time.

According to the latest reports, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer may not only be introducing one kind of Mate 9 but two. This speculation started after serial tipster Evan Blass tweeted an image showing that the company is planning to showcase two different body styles for the device.

One device is going to get a flat screen and it's codenamed Manhattan. The other device is said to sport a curved screen and is dubbed Long Island. Reports said the Manhattan version is going to be released worldwide while the Long Island version is going to be sold only in China.

Between the two, the Long Island model is bigger and is purported to carry higher-end specs compared to the other version. It's also noted that the curved version will have a QHD touchscreen while the flat version will only get a full HD panel. Nonetheless, it's rumored that both devices will have a 5.9-inch display size.

As for the other specs and features, reports suggested that the Huawei Mate 9 will be powered with the Kirin 960 processor paired with 6 GB of RAM. Its expected native storage is 256 GB but it will depend on the version purchased.

At the rear is a Leica-branded dual camera setup just like the one found in the Huawei P9. The difference though is that the Mate 9's lenses and sensors have been upgraded. The cameras are said to be 20 megapixels each with f/2.0 aperture. Both devices will also have fingerprint scanners.

The Huawei Mate 9 is expected to launch on Nov. 3 at an official event in Munich, Germany. Fans will have to stay tuned to find out and confirm the official details of the upcoming flagship model.
