Huawei P10 specs, features, release date: Device to feature dual-curved design, fingerprint scanner

When Huawei launched the P9 smartphone earlier this year, it attracted the tech industry with its Leica dual-cameras. Hence, there are high expectations for the next smartphone in the series. Leaked photos of the P10 suggest that Huawei is going to add a few more upgrades to the device.

To note, the P9 fingerprint scanner is located at the rear of the device. But based on the leaked photos of the P10, it seems like Huawei will be moving the scanner to the front panel, placing it just below the screen of the unit. According to GSMArena, it will most likely not function as a Home button, only as a fingerprint scanner.

Prior to these photos, there was a leak showing a less-developed Huawei P10. The earlier version of the device featured a dual-curved design, which was a bit similar to the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche and the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. It is believed that the P10 will come in two different designs, one with the dual-curved display while the other would have a standard flat display. Like the recent leaks, this featured a fingerprint scanner.

The location of the scanner shown in the previous leak, however, featured a different design. The fingerprint scanner was still at the back portion of the device, not in front like the more recent leak. On the other hand, Android Headlines suggests that the earlier design of the P10 could have been further improved through the course of the development of the device. The news outlet speculates that the P10 could have a different design from its preceding unit.

Rumor has it that the Huawei P10 will have a 5.5-inch quad HD display. It will be powered by a Kirin 960 SoC processor, which will have a 6 GB of RAM. Furthermore, the device is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2017.

Since the latest reports haven't been confirmed by the manufacturer, tech enthusiasts should treat the recent claims as speculation until proven otherwise.
