'Hunter X Hunter' chapter 361 rumors: Manga to be cancelled due to author's health?

While the last "Hunter x Hunter" episode came out in 2014, a lot of fans are still hoping that the anime will have a third season and adapt more arcs from the manga. As of now, even the manga is said to be in trouble, and it's because of the health condition of author Yoshihiro Togashi.

Reports are saying that Togashi is experiencing back pain caused by a more complicated disease. This is why he's been unable to work on the manga. With that in mind, could this mean that the "Hunter x Hunter" series is going into hiatus until Togashi fully recovers?

Other rumors, however, suggest that a replacement artist will be brought in while Togashi is recovering, and the rumored artist is none other than his wife, Naoko Takeuchi. Takeuchi herself is an accomplished manga artist and is responsible for titles like "Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon" and "Codename: Sailor V." She's won a Kodansha Manga award and her work has sold over 35 million copies.

Some suggest that if Takeuchi is brought in to take over, the release of the next chapter could very much land in early 2017.

As for the anime, the future is looking murky. The show went off air back in 2014, but it was introduced into Adult Swim's Toonami lineup this year, so the series may have picked up a new following of fans.

The manga still has a lot of material that the anime can cover, but reports are saying that there are no legitimate plans to pick it up for another season.

Some are even guessing that if the "Hunter x Hunter" anime were to continue, it would probably see a release sometime in 2017, and the season would only have 26 episodes.

As of now, the "Hunter x Hunter" manga is on hiatus, but some remain positive that the story will continue early next year.
