'Injustice 2' news: online beta, prequel comic details revealed; more info coming tomorrow
NetherRealms Studios is giving fans a couple of chances to prepare for the highly-anticipated arrival of its next fighting game offering, "Injustice 2."
An "Injustice 2" prequel comic is set to be released on April 11 for fans to get an idea of how the state of affairs in the "Injustice: Gods Among Us" sequel came to be. Writer Tom Taylor and lead artist Bruno Redondo will team up for the project.
"I am so excited to continue working with Bruno Redondo. He's a good friend and an incredible talent," Taylor said in the press release acquired by IGN. He added that Redondo just "gets me as well as any artist ever has."
"We complement each other well, and Bruno lifts Injustice up with every stroke of his pen. As a former theatre director and performer, my main focus is always on how well our characters 'act' on the page. Bruno brings so much emotion to the page, nailing the low points and the high. His characters breathe, and he's just as comfortable delivering big action and shocks as he is with my ridiculous humor," he went on to say.
Juan Albarran, Daniel Sempere and Mike Miller will also be contributing on the art for the "Injustice 2" prequel comic, which will be released digitally every week.
Since "Injustice 2" is set half a decade after the events of the first game, the comic should provide five years' worth of information to keep fans up to speed.
Apart from the prequel comic, another way to get ready for "Injustice 2" is signing up for the online beta for the game. NetherRealms has set up a website in which interested players can register.
The beta testing should allow players to try the game before its official launch and help the developer find and quash bugs to further improve and polish the much-awaited fighting game before it hits the shelves.
It is unclear, however, when the online beta will commence, but this morsel of information should be revealed tomorrow, Jan. 24, during the "Injustice 2" Watchtower Twitch stream.
NetherRealms creative director Ed Boon promises that "lots of new INJUSTICE 2 information" will be revealed during the event, which will begin at 2 p.m. CDT.
"Injustice 2" will be released May 16.
