'Injustice 2' release date, latest news: NetherRealm Studios now accepting registration for beta test run

Game developer NetherRealm Studios has recently revealed that their upcoming DC fighting game, "Injustice 2," will get an online beta test for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One. Interested gamers can register for the game's beta version here.

Aside from accepting registrations for the "Injustice 2" beta, not much is still known about NetherRealm's plans concerning the upcoming video game's beta version. However, as reported by Polygon, NetherRealm has promised to release additional beta details soon. Those details could arrive next week, alongside the company's plans to reveal new characters for "Injustice 2."

Considering that pre-release tests for fighting games are not that common, the DC fighting game's beta version will give the game developers early feedback from gaming fans and experts alike ahead of the full release of "Injustice 2."

According to VG247, launching a beta version for "Injustice 2" is not just to provide fans an early access to the game's new heroes. The beta version will help ensure that the game will run smoothly on release day when demand is expected to skyrocket. It will also help identify enormous balance issues and bugs that may not have been detected while the game was still in development.

Earlier this week, a new story trailer was released for "Injustice 2." Titled "The Lines are Redrawn," the trailer showed the aftermath of the first "Injustice" game, during which Batman rebelled against Superman's tyrannical rule. In the upcoming sequel, Batman is trying to rebuild what is left of society while also dealing with heroes and villains who want to see Superman's regime restored.

The new trailer also featured playable characters such as Bane, Poison Ivy, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, and Darkseid.

Sequel to the commercially-successful 2013 video game, "Injustice: Gods Among Us," "Injustice 2" is scheduled to be released in the United States on the PS4 and Xbox One on May 16.
