'Injustice 2' release date officially confirmed
After the cryptic post of game director Ed Boon on Twitter, NetherRealm Studios officially confirmed that "Injustice 2" will come out in the United States on May 16, 2017 on another post.
The announcement came days after a report from Xbox Live Rewards page pointed out that the game will have a March 28 release date. The page is now corrected.
The sequel to the critically acclaimed "Injustice: Gods Among Us" fighting video game released in 2013 was first announced by NetherRealm and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment back in June 2016 after a leaked poster surfaced during the annual E3 convention.
In a press release that was posted by Business Wire, Boon revealed that they will introduce new features that will innovate the fighting game genre with the release of "Injustice 2." The game director said, "We're always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap."
One of the new features of "Injustice 2" is the loot-dropping system called the "Gear System" which could hand out rewards to players with a loot after each finished match. The loot drop will give players the necessary gear that will let them customize their characters and increase their strength, health, defense, or speed. It will also allow them to unlock new moves.
The game will feature the continuation of the storyline presented during the first "Injustice" game, in which Batman and his supporters will try to move forward and heal the society while fighting against those who want to bring back Superman's regime. However, a new threat will emerge that will bring more chaos to Earth.
Some of the confirmed characters for the upcoming game include Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Harley Quinn and Wonder Woman. The game will also debut Deadshot, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd as new playable characters within the game.
