'Injustice 2' release date news 2016: Black Canary to join roster?

A lot of DC fans are waiting on the release of "Injustice 2," and some speculate that the game could feature DC hero, the Black Canary. In other news, NetherRealm's Ed Boon  held a poll on which characters fans would like to see in the upcoming game.

Reports say that fans have been speculating the appearance of Black Canary in the game after "Arrow" star Katie Cassidy posted a picture of herself wearing motion capture technology on her Instagram account. This leads fans to think that she was working on the new "Injustice" game, but it could very well be another project.

As for the final results of Boon's character poll on Twitter, it had characters Blue Beetle, Swamp Thing and Captain Cold in the top three, with Cold being the last and Beetle placing first. Fans have also commented on other heroes they would've liked to see in the "Injustice 2" character roster, and those are members of the Teen Titans: Robin, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy; and robot superhero, the Red Tornado.

Other fans wanted more female heroes and villains in the roster like Poison Ivy, Hawkgirl, and Power Girl.

The following day, the ESL Mortal Kombat Twitter account also posted a photo of their "Injustice 2" giveaway shirts for the MKX Pro League Season 3 finals. The shirt has images of the weapons of some of the characters in the game. Some speculate that one of the weapons on the shirt could be Captain Cold's ice gun.

Other items on the shirt include Wonder Woman's shield, the Flash's boots, Harley Quinn's mallet, Aquaman's trident, Superman's shield emblem, Batman's mask, and the helmet of Doctor Fate.

A lot of fans are excited for the upcoming characters and are happy to see that the developers are expanding the roster. Though they may not be winning in terms of cinematic universes, DC has a solid video game following years ahead of their rivals at Marvel.

The "Injustice 2" character roster is ever-expanding and it's only a matter of time before NetherRealm releases a full list of playable heroes and villains before the game's release.

Will players see Black Canary in the new game? Only time will tell.

"Injustice 2" is said to come out March of 2017.
