iOS 10 jailbreak release update 2017: Luca Todesco to launch update on Yalu jailbreak, better options looked at
Italian developer Luca Todesco will roll out an update to the Yalu iOS 10 jailbreak he released a week ago. He revealed the news on Twitter.
He said that "new releases for yalu will happen," but did not give any further details on when exactly these jailbreak offerings will arrive.
Todesco did say that he is looking into other options in crafting his next iOS 10 jailbreak. "But I am interested in futurerestore since it would actually give me devices to test it on," he tweeted out.
The hacker released the iOS 10 jailbreak recently, a first from Todesco, who has jailbroken iOS many times but has refused to make public his software.
The iOS 10 jailbreak he released was in beta form, which means that it is unstable. It is also semi-untethered, requiring users to re-jailbreak their devices every time they reboot.
This Yalu jailbreak was intended for developers only. It is too much of a risk for casual jailbreak fans to jump to it because, as mentioned above, it comes with its own set of serious risks.
Jumping to it would mean being unable to downgrade to the iOS 9.3.3, where many users stayed as they wait for a working iOS 10 jailbreak to come around.
As to when Todesco will release the update for his Yalu jailbreak, there is no word on that yet. There is, however, a report that an iOS 10.2 jailbreak will be out and about soon.
Stefan Esser, who is known for his contributions in the jailbreaking world, revealed on Twitter that "the iOS 10.2 jailbreak is about to hit soon."
He did not provide any more information such as who is making it or when it will drop so there is no way of knowing if such software will actually see the light of day.
Notably, it looks like an iOS 10.2 jailbreak is not on the table for Todesco. He said on Twitter, "A jailbreak for 10.2 is not planned. But it is still [vulnerable] to the underlying technique used, so it's the second best fw."
