iPad Pro 2 release date, specs rumors: Device expected to launch in July 2017; new 10.5-inch iPad to have a bezel-less display?
The new iPad Pro model is expected to be introduced to the market in 2017. Meanwhile, the iPad Pro 2 is anticipated to have a 10.5-inch display and a reduced bezel.
DigiTimes confirmed with the supply chain makers in Taiwan that production of the new iPad models will begin this December, and they aim to ship two million units of the device in the first quarter of 2017. This leads to speculations that a new iPad Pro model will be released into the market by July 2017.
In terms of the iPad Pro 2's features, there have only been a few reports indicating what can be expected from the new Apple tablet.
According to Macotakara, confirmed by 9to5mac, the new iPad Pro model will have a 10.5-inch display, but it will be more or less the same as the 9.7-inch iPad. The 10.5-inch iPad will reportedly have a reduced bezel. The Home button will be taken off while the FaceTime camera will still be placed at the top of the device.
Trusted Reviews reported that Apple will have to bring new features to the iPad Pro 2 to be able to secure its position in the market, especially now that smartphones have increased their display sizes and can compete with tablets.
One of these features could be the dual camera configuration that Apple placed on the iPhone 7, which would be a great addition to the iPad Pro 2. Also, other Apple features, such as the Touch ID fingerprint sensor and 3D Touch display, will make the iPad Pro 2 a desirable device among others in 2017.
Apple is already developing new iPhone models that will house the OLED display, but unfortunately for the iPad Pro, it will have to wait until 2018 before shifting from LCD to OLED.
The iPad Pro 2 is expected to debut in July 2017.
