BlackBerry, formerly a dominant player in the business smartphone sector, recently upped its game with the release of the BlackBerry Passport.

Now, how does it stand up to the latest smartphone from Apple, the iPhone 6?

Starting with their design, both have premium elements. The Passport comes with a frame made of stainless steel while the iPhone 6 has a curved full metal frame. The iPhone, with its sleek curved frame, manages to outscore the Passport with its standard square frame. However, the BlackBerry Passport has physical QWERTY keyboard which many people like. The iPhone 6 does not have this feature.

As for size, the BlackBerry Passport is smaller at 5.04 inches compared to the iPhone 6 which measures 5.44 inches. The screen of the BlackBerry Passport is slightly smaller at 4.5 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels and a pixel density of 453 pixels per inch. Coming to specs, the BlackBerry Passport has a Qualcomm MSM8974AA Snapdragon 801chipset along with Quad-core Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.26 GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. Compared to this, the iPhone 6 has Apple A8 chipset along with a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU and a PowerVR GX6450 GPU. As for RAM the iPhone 6 has 1 GB while the BlackBerry Passport has 3 GB.

The OS on both smartphones is another major differentiator as the iPhone 6 has the iOS 8 which can be upgraded to the iOS 8.1.2 while the BlackBerry Passport is powered by the BlackBerry 10.3 OS.

As for internal memory, the BlackBerry Passport is available with 32 GB storage which can be extended up to 128 GB using its microSD slot. The iPhone 6 does not have any such slot but can be purchased with 16 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of storage. Finally the BlackBerry Passport usually retails without a contract at $599 which is $150 cheaper when compared to the iPhone 6.
