iPhone 7 bursts into flame, destroys car amidst Galaxy Note 7 issues?
Apple may be facing the same problem Samsung is dealing with right now with the Galaxy Note 7. Last Friday, an incident left an Australian man with a melted iPhone 7 and a scorched car interior.
Matt Jones, a surfing instructor from New South Wales, had left his week-old iPhone 7 wrapped in a pair of trousers inside his car while he went into the water. By the time he went back, Jones recalled seeing smoke billowing out from the inside of his car.
Footage taken from another phone showed the front seats, dashboard and stick melted and charred. Jones said that he felt "pretty much just like a big heat wave just came out of the car."
A few moments later, Jones was able to retrieve whatever was left of his phone and trousers from inside the car. "Ash was just coming from inside the pants, which then, once you wrapped open the pants the phone was just melting inside of it," Jones said.
Local news station, 7 News, reported that Jones had no doubts that the phone lying inside his car was the source of the ignition. Unlike previous accident which happened last August to a Sydney man who fell off his bike and suffered burns from his iPhone, Jones said that he had not dropped his iPhone 7 nor caused any physical damage to it.
According to The Indian Express, Apple is already looking into the incident. The giant tech company should take careful steps in a situation like this since it could easily escalate to bigger issues, especially now that their rival, Samsung, is under fire because of a similar problem with their Galaxy Note 7.
The Galaxy Note 7 is already in recall, making a huge impact on Samsung's brand and has already cost the company billions of dollars in damages.
