iPhone 7 release date, specs rumors 2016: High-end variant will have 256 GB storage capacity, to feature dual lens camera
According to the latest specs rumor for Apple's latest smartphone iteration, the iPhone 7 will now have a full 256 GB worth of internal storage. This is a huge step ahead of its predecessors, making it the perfect handy device for those who need more space in downloading graphics, music and video files.
According to a report from Independent UK, the Cupertino-based tech giant will offer at least three different variants of the iPhone 7 upon release. These variants are classified according to their storage capacity, which include 32 GB for the low-end variant, 128 GB and 256 GB for the high-end iPhone units. Still, it is not yet clear if the 256 GB storage will be offered in the basic iPhone 7 design, or if it will only be exclusive for the higher quality iPhone 7 Plus smartphone. It is possible that the 256 GB variant, which is already available on the iPad lineup, will just be for the iPhone Plus group due to the latter's bigger size.
Aside from the iPhone 7's extended available storage, Apple is said to double the minimum RAM feature for the low-end variant. Instead of 16 GB, the lower class iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus unit is now expected to boast 32 GB worth of RAM. The rumors about the latest iPhone's larger capacity excite the iPhone users as some of them often complain about the smartphone's limited space. The 16 GB variant has already been offered by Apple since the iPhone 3GS was released, although this size may already be outdated today due to the existence of 4K videos and Live Photos. These file types take up too much of the phone's storage, and it is probably high time for Apple to offer larger storage options.
On the other hand, Tech Crunch reported that the iPhone 7 Plus will feature a major improvement of the smartphone's camera features by introducing a dual lense camera. This will make way for higher quality of image captures, and it will also boast a great performance even in low-light environment.
The iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus is expected to be released in the market on Sept. 23, per the latest Forbes report.
