iPhone 8 release date, news and updates: Fans speculate about the upcoming device's features
Though the iPhone 7 was just recently launched, a lot of buzz is already surrounding Apple's next flagship phone, the iPhone 8, which is expected to come out next year. The reason why there is so much hype around the phone is because it will mark the 10th anniversary of Apple's smartphone, and people are expecting the tech company to have something special planned up its sleeve.
According to reports, the new iPhone is rumored to come with an OLED screen that is 5.5 inches wide and to be provided by South Korean tech company Samsung. The new phone is also said to be forgoing the home button —a prominent iPhone feature — in lieu of an edge-to-edge display.
The iPhone 8 is said to come in two different models, one with the width set at 4.7 inches, and another at 5.5 inches. There is also expected to be a "Pro" model that will come out, and it will have a display width of 5.5 inches as well.
It's also expected that the device will come with an eye and fingerprint scanner as well as wireless charging technology. The phone is also said to come with an A11 processor, and it will be able to have an internal memory that could range from 16 GB to 256 GB.
The camera on the iPhone is also said to be 16 MP with a front camera that is 8 MP.
No official price has also been announced, but the same site there are suggestions that the iPhone 8 will come with a price tag of $1,200.
As for the release date, some speculate that Apple's next flagship phone can come out on in fall 2017, which will be in line with the release of the iPhone 7 this year.
