The iPhone 7 may have hit the shelves a few months ago, but sources agree that Apple has already begun working on its next flagship smartphone — the iPhone 8. And if the rumors are true, Apple may unveil it in Sept. 2017 alongside the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus.

The Daily Express has reported that manufacturing documents were leaked last week, and it reveals that Apple is allegedly working on three different models of the iPhone. According to Chinese blog cnBeta, the variations are referred to as D20, D21 and D22. The leak also mentioned that the high-end variant is codenamed "Ferrari," while the other two models will only feature minor upgrades.

The report says that the iPhone 8 may have a glass body with a curved organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display panel. Furthermore, Apple will allegedly remove the Home button and integrate the Touch ID fingerprint authentication technology into the display.

The document also says that the logic board in the iPhone 8 will be split into two separate units. Apple Insider has reported that the first one will carry the processor and storage, while the other carries the Wi-Fi and cellular parts.

To make room for internal components, the leak also reveals that Apple may relocate the SIM card tray to the bottom of the smartphone. The report also says that the iPhone 8 may feature wireless charging, and the Daily Express has reported that it may even be capable of long-range wireless charging (up to 15 feet away). Furthermore, PC Advisor notes that the iPhone 8's speaker design may make it the thinnest phone ever.

As of this moment, Apple has yet to announce that the iPhone 8 is under development. Until the company makes a confirmation, all reports concerning the smartphone are rumors at best, so readers are advised to take everything with a pinch of salt.
