A new set of iPhones are expected to be launched in Apple's September event, and the iPhone 8 is anticipated to carry innovative features such as a brand new design and a 3D sensing technology. However, the new iPhone 8 will not be sporting the curved edge display.

Apple will reportedly be celebrating their 10th iPhone anniversary by introducing three new iPhone models: two in the iPhone 7 series and a brand new iPhone 8. Although there has been no confirmation about the new features of the iPhone 8, there have been several rumors anticipating what these might be.

BGR reports that the new iPhone 8 will be having a stainless steel frame in the middle of the mobile's glass exterior. It will have an OLED display that will eliminate the home button, which also has incorporated the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

Aside from this, Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities reported that Apple will apply enhanced facial recognition in the iPhone 8. The front-facing camera of the iPhone 8 will have an infrared sensor module that can sweep the 3D environment, which can create 3D selfies. The new 3D sensor will be most useful in next-generation mobile games that can embed the gamer's head on the character.

The new 3D scanning technology is reported to have been acquired by Apple when they brought in PrimeSense into their group of companies, which is the one that supplied Microsoft's Kinect sensor.

Meanwhile, TrendForce confirmed that the new iPhone 8 will not be having a curved AMOLED display, due to "issues with the 3D glass regarding production yield and drop test results." However, the iPhone 8 will feature a 5.8-inch screen with a 2K resolution that has a display ratio of about 2:1.

The iPhone 8 is expected to be launched by the end of 2017.
