iPhone SE 2 release date, news, specs rumors: New concept photos tease 5.2-inch iPhone SE with Quad HD OLED Screen
Concept images for the rumored revamp of the iPhone SE has been circulating online. While Apple itself did not release such concept visual for the second iPhone SE iteration, the tech enthusiasts have been curious about the next set of features and design of an iPhone SE 2.
The latest concept picture for the iPhone SE 2, or iPhone SE 2017 as the rumors say, shows a 5.2-inch handset sporting a Quad HD OLED screen display. Interestingly, the fictional iPhone SE 2 has a screen that almost takes up the entire front of the handset. As reported by Technobuffalo, this is likely due to the rumored plan of Apple to make their future smartphones being almost or completely covered by the screen panel.
Also noticeable in the concept iPhone SE 2 image is the lack of bezels in the design, making the handset thinner and lighter. However, the online publication stated that these concept images for the next iPhone SE iteration are likely going to stay as a concept. There is no guarantee that Apple is going to make any of the new features in the concept pictures happen. For one, the concept images show the iPhone SE 2 having a shock proof design plus an iris scanner feature, something that Apple may not be doing just yet in the foreseeable future.
The concept images for the iPhone SE 2 are created by an artist from DBS Designing, meaning that any features seen on the pictures may not be based on the inputs from Apple itself. Moreover, Apple does not even have a clear hint that they will be doing the next iteration of the budget handset model. According to Tech Times, it does not seem likely that the iPhone SE 2 will be released sometime next year. There were speculations that the iPhone SE 2 will be released in March 2017, around the same period when the first iPhone SE handset was unveiled at an Apple press event. The current iPhone SE was then presented to have a 4-inch body with 12MP camera and A9 chipset.
Many people believe that the iPhone SE 2 will be similar to its predecessor, being a less sophisticated version of the top-tier iPhones in the market today but still offering an impressive lineup of specs. Even though the iPhone SE 2 will not be released in 2017, there is also no indication that Apple will not be open to making the next iteration of the handset. According to Apple Insider, if the company does not plan to make the handset by Q1, it is possible that the iPhone SE 2 will make it by Q3 or Q4 of Apple's current fiscal year.
