iPod Touch 6 Release Date: Apple Could Bring It Out Of The Void In 2015
The iPod is slowly fading into the void as Apple concentrates on churning out new iPhones and iPads and creating the first version of the Apple Watch. As such, the iPod has been without any new models since 2012.
This has fueled rumors that an iPod Touch 6 is in the works and will be released in March next year.
Customers did get a watered down version of 16 GB iPod Touch in 2013 with limited color options and without the iSight camera.
This year Apple went ahead and reduced the price on its range of iPods including the iPod Touch. While this no doubt helped boost sales of the devices, many people kept wondering when Apple would release the sixth generation iPod.
Many had expected that the Apple event last Oct. 16 would include news about the launch of an updated iPod that would hit the market in time for the holidays.
However, the event came and went with no news about the iPod Touch 6 or an updated device being announced. This left many analysts and industry experts wondering if Apple was ending the production of its iPod range, as sales of the device have fallen over the years.
Forbes in its analysis noted that an update, or a sixth generation iPod, is long overdue. Importantly an updated version will not put much burden on the Apple manufacturing line as the current line of iPods is very much like the iPhone 5C. However, other websites like itechwhiz have noted that Apple might have put off the launch of the iPod Touch 6 to ensure it does not eat into the sales of the Apple Watch.
In its analysis itechwhiz notes that the iPod Touch 6 will probably feature a large 5-inch display, an 8 megapixel rear camera along with a 1.5 megapixel front camera, and onboard storage up to 128 GB. There are also rumors that it will also feature NFC, a better battery and include Siri.
