'Iron Fist' release date, cast news, plot spoilers: Danny Rand's childhood friends to become his enemies?
Danny Rand, portrayed by Finn Jones, might find himself in a fight with his childhood friends when he returns to New York.
"Iron Fist" is the fourth series to come from the partnership between Marvel Television and Netflix, which is set to debut on March 17 according to its Netflix announcement. The show is going to premiere just in time to introduce Danny Rand before he groups up with the other Marvel heroes in "The Defenders," which is coming to Netflix later in 2017.
The showrunner of "Iron Fist" is "Dexter" and "Six Feet Under" executive producer Scott Buck, who was chosen because he presented the series in a way that swept the Marvel team off their feet, according to Head of Marvel Television, Jeph Loeb.
The synopsis of "Iron Fist" according to reads: "Danny Rand returns to New York City after being missing for years, trying to reconnect with his past and his family legacy. He fights against the criminal element corrupting his world around him with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist."
Upon Rand's return to New York, he might find enemies from his childhood friends, Joy and Ward Meachum, to be played by Jessica Stroup and Tom Pelphrey, respectively, according to Variety. They are the children of Harold Meachum, who is played by David Wenham, as per Deadline.
Harold Meachum used to be business partners with Rand's parents when they were still alive. Since their death, Meachum's children, Joy and Ward, built Rand Enterprises to its current place in the world. But now that Rand has returned, all their hard work might be handed over to Rand because of his birthright to the company.
Meanwhile, Rand will have an ally by his side named Collen Wing, who is going to be played by "Game of Thrones" Nymeria Sand of the Sand Snakes, Jessica Henwick.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Colleen Wing is a martial arts expert who will act as Rand's sidekick when he returns to New York.
"Iron Fist" premieres on March 17, 2017 on Netflix.
