'Jane the Virgin' season 3 episode 12 spoilers: Jane to find love with Rafael again? Showrunner shares what Michael's death means to the show

The show has jumped three years after Michael's (Brett Dier) death, and Jane (Gina Rodriguez) just might fall into the arms of Rafael (Justin Baldoni) once again. Meanwhile, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman shared what Michael's death means for the show.

Previously on "Jane the Virgin" season 3, Michael passed away due to an incident caused by his gunshot wound, leaving Jane a widow. The show jumps to three years after his death, and it is yet to be revealed if Jane has moved on with someone new.

There are speculations that Jane will be rekindling sparks with Rafael, but according to TVLine's Ausiello, that might not be the case.

"You may have to wait a while. Turns out Rafael spent the intervening three years doing time and doing a new lady," Ausiello shared.

Meanwhile, Michael's death came as a big surprise to the viewers of "Jane the Virgin," but executive producer shared in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that it was meant to happen since season 1.

"This was another moment where I felt like she had everything worked out, and this event, again, changes everything and leaves people in different places and gives our character a lot of room to learn and grow and change," Urman explained.

Urman also decided to bring the timeline forward three years later to maintain the "light and bright show" that "Jane the Virgin" is.

Jane may have picked the broken pieces of herself since Michael's death, but it seems that someone else in the family will have a harder time of moving on, and that is Rogelio (Jaime Camil).

Urman shared that the show will preview how Rogelio has grieved for the loss of his best friend, Michael, and how he is finding it hard to accept that he's gone, especially when Jane starts dating again.
