Jay Z Paternity Suit News: 21-Year-Old New Jersey Man Claims He's Biological Son of Hip-Hop Mogul
A 21-year-old man in New Jersey named Rymir Satterthwaite has allegedly slapped hip-hop mogul Jay Z with a paternity suit. Satterthwaite is suing Jay Z in an attempt to compel the rapper to acknowledge Satterthwaite as his biological son and to pay 18 years' worth of back child support, potentially in one lump sum.
According to reports, Satterthwaite's mother, Wanda, had an affair with Jay Z in the early 90's when she was still a teenager and he was still just an aspiring rapper, or a couple of years before he started gaining fame. Wanda named Jay Z as the father of her child when the man who was paying for child support for Rymir took a paternity test and proved that he was not the biological father.
The reports said Jay Z was asked to take a paternity test in 2010, but the case was dismissed due to a technicality.
It was revealed that for the past five years, Rymir had repeatedly attempted, unsuccessfully, to obtain the court order for Jay Z's DNA. Rymir accused his alleged father or his people of thwarting the process by giving a false address in New York, prompting the New Jersey judge to dismiss the case for lack of jurisdiction.
His godmother and guardian, Lillie Collie, a paralegal that drafted the suit, expressed surprise that the suit has garnered much attention. She said they were not expecting it to be leaked to the press.
Rymir is songwriter and rapper. He said he felt that music was in his blood at a very young age.
Jay Z has a three-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, with wife Beyoncé. He also has a 12-year-old son, Isa Jael, who lives with his mom in Trinidad.
Jay Z has neither acknowledged nor commented yet on this latest suit. Beyoncé has likewise been silent on the issue.
However, Rymir remains hopeful that the legal system will enable him to seek justice.
