Jennifer Lawrence, Chris Pratt in Talks to Star in Sci-Fi Romance Movie 'Passengers'
Jennifer Lawrence of "Hunger Games" and Chris Pratt of "Guardians of the Galaxy" – two of Hollywood's biggest stars today – are in talks with the director of "The Imitation Game" for a possible team-up in the upcoming science fiction-love story movie titled "Passengers."
Lawrence and Pratt are holding early talks with director Morten Tyldum, who is set to direct the potential blockbuster, Den of Geek! reported.
The movie is set aboard a spacecraft on a more than century-long journey to interstellar space. A passenger (Pratt, possibly) awakens from cryogenic slumber and decides to awaken a fellow traveller (Lawrence) to keep him company, according to The Wrap.
The journey, Variety wrote, involves thousands of people seeking new life in a far away planet. The love story between the two lead characters begins when the lead male character awakes from cryogenic slumber 90 years before anyone else.
"Passengers" is a Hollywood film that has long been waiting around to be picked up until Sony Pictures agreed to back it up, with Tyldum on board as the director. Jon Spaihts, who worked on "Prometheus" and is now writing "Doctor Strange" for Marvel, penned the film.
Neal Moritz and Ori Marmur will produce for Original Film as well as Start Media's Michael Maher and Company Film's Stephen Hamel, according to The Wrap.
But fans should not get too excited, as Pratt and Lawrence are still "in early talks" to take the lead roles, said Den of Geek! Lawrence has a very tight schedule. She is set to start filming "X-Men: Apocalypse." She is also set to star in Fox drama "The Dive" and "Joy," which will soon start filming.
The "Passengers" release date has yet to be set.
Reese Witherspoon and Rachel McAdams were previously considered for Lawrence's role while Keanu Reeves was once set to play the male lead.
