Jennifer Lawrence New Movies 2015 News: Will Leave Mystique Character Behind After X-Men Apocalypse Movie
Jennifer Lawrence is bidding goodbye to Mystique, the character she portrays in the retooled X-Men film franchise. The Oscar award winning actress made the announcement that she would put the character behind her after the upcoming X-Men film which is titled "X-Men: Apocalypse."
The actress made the statement when she attended the premiere of her new movie "Serena". As she walked the red carpet along with co-star Bradley Cooper she stated to MTV, "It is my last one, actually, yes," in reference to the "X-Men: Apocalypse" movie.
While there has been no official announcement of her retiring from the role, since the announcement several have speculated that Mystique might not survive the events that take place in "X-Men: Apocalypse". That particular movie is going to see the arrival of the deadly mutant Apocalypse and it is expected that the X-Men will be stretched to their limit to overcome him.
Lawrence first made her appearance as a younger Mystique in "X-Men: First Class" which released in 2011 and then went on to also appear in "X-Men: Days of Future Past" which released last year.
In the previous X-Men films the character was older and was played by Rebecca Romijn. She appeared in three films; "X-Men" which released in 2000, its sequel in 2003 and the final film in the original franchise which was titled "X-Men: The Last Stand" released in 2006.
Like other mutants Mystique has unique abilities that allow her to shape shift and don another person's appearance and voice.
Nicholas Hoult formerly of "Skins" who plays the Beast in the franchise also recently hinted that he would not be returning after "X-Men: Apocalypse" as he had not signed any contract.
As for the new mutants who will be appearing in "X-Men: Apocalypse" which is due to release on May 27, 2016, they include Cyclops who is played by Tye Sheridan, Jean Grey played by "Game of Thrones" alum Sophie Turner and Storm played by Alexandra Shipp.
