Jeremy Lin news: second hamstring injury not as bad as first one; Brooklyn Nets not putting timetable for point guard's return
It did not take long before Jeremy Lin got sidelined again due to a new left hamstring injury. However, it looks like the wait for his return will not be as long as the first one.
Brian Lewis of the New York Post said that while it is indeed the left hamstring that's keeping the point guard off the court, "the injury is in a different area of hammy so unrelated."
Nets general manager, Sean Marks, also assured that "the severity is not the same as the first one," adding that it is not the same injury and the new one and the old one are not linked.
This suggests that Lin could be playing with the Brooklyn Nets soon. However, Marks would not want to get ahead of themselves with regard to the date the point guard will be back.
"I don't think that's fair to Jeremy to say you're going to be out X amount, and then next thing you know, he's under that sort of pressure to return then," Marks said.
"We all know how competitive he is and misses the game immensely. I've talked to him. He's disappointed as he could be, but at the same time, I think he's in good spirits. This is a great opportunity for other guys," he went on to say.
Either way, it looks like there is not much to worry about this time. Since Lin's injury is not as bad as the first one, he could be back in no time.
His strained hamstring, which he sustained on Nov. 2, caused him to miss 17 games, but it looks like Lin's new injury will not lead to that again.
For now, the Nets choose to look at the bright side of the absence of Lin, which is the others getting the chance to step up to the plate and play big for the team.
