Jurassic World Movie 2015 News: New Indominus Rex Dinosaur Debuts Within Hasbro Toy Line
It is no secret that the film "Jurassic World" is going to feature a new hybrid dinosaur that has been described as dangerous in the trailers released so far.
However, the trailers did not provide even the briefest glimpses of the new dinosaur and only hinted that it killed for sport. This lack of information was remedied recently when toy maker Hasbro revealed that the dinosaur is named Indominus Rex.
The name of the genetically engineered dinosaur was featured prominently in the line of toys that Hasbro released for the film. In addition, Hasbro has revealed that its toy dinosaur will have a large jaw – much like that of the Tyrannosaurus Rex– and a pair of red eyes. This toy and other popular dinosaur toys modelled after the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Dilophosaurus, Stegasaurus, and Ceratosaurus form part of the new Hasbro lineup.
There still isn't much information about the Indominus Rex on the website for the upcoming film, where its huge teeth, spikes on its back and long claws are featured in a silhouette. In the trailers, the dinosaur is seen with its bloody jaws after it chomped off various humans as it hunts Owen (played by Chris Pratt).
With the Indominus Rex closely resembling the T-Rex, it is fairly certain that the latter has a part to play in the creation of the hybrid monster. As for the horns or bony osteoderms that the hybrid dinosaur sports, the Jurassic World website says they were created by hybridized genes from the Giganotosaurus, Carnotaurus and Majungasaurus dinosaurs. The website also notes that the Indominus can reach a speed of 30 mph in its enclosed habitat, which means it is much faster than other dinosaurs when out in the open.
In a major difference, the Indominus Rex – which translates to "fierce king" – will have muscular arms, making it much more lethal than the T-Rex which has relatively tiny arms compared to its huge body.
