The superhero movie genre has been dominated by the Marvel Cinematic Universe today. Marvel Studios has been releasing hit after hit, leaving the folks at Warner Bros. desperate to catch up on the superhero movie franchise. Current head of DC Entertainment Geoff Johns takes time to talk about the different direction that "Justice League" will take this time around.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Johns speaks about the negative perception that critics have on recent DC films and how the studio plans to bring more optimism and hopefulness in the series. He says, "Mistakenly in the past I think the studio has said, 'Oh, DC films are gritty and dark and that's what makes them different.' That couldn't be more wrong... It's a hopeful and optimistic view of life. Even Batman has a glimmer of that in him. If he didn't think he'd make tomorrow better, he'd stop."

Reports say that the producers are working closely with Chris Terrio when it comes to changing the tone of the movie, and they have "accelerated the story to get to the hope and optimism a little faster."

One of the main complaints of "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" was that the story was highly convoluted and that the characters' motivation seemed a bit off — not to mention how dour Superman (Henry Cavill) was looking in every scene that he is in.

In an interview with Variety, Amy Adams (Lois Lane) even talks about how "Justice League" is a totally different film, and that the cast and crew is "really excited" about the movie.

Hopefully the "Justice League" movie will be a homerun for the DC Cinematic Universe. Earlier this August, fans had high hopes for David Ayer's "Suicide Squad," but the reviews for the film were full of disappointment from critics. The eyes are all on "Wonder Woman" right now. Perhaps DC will finally get the critical acclaim it needs.

"Justice League" will come to theaters Nov 16, 2017.
