Justin Bieber News 2015: Bieber Celebrates 21st Birthday, Says He Wants to Change for the Better
Canadian singer and songwriter Justin Bieber turned 21 on Sunday, March 1, 2015. As to be expected, he celebrated in style – hiring a private Caribbean island and partying shirtless for most of the time.
However, he found time to express gratitude for all the blessings he has received and even promised to be a better person this year. He tweeted: "Thanks for all the birthday love. Grateful for everything. Let's be better this year. Thanks."
In the past year or so, Bieber just couldn't do anything right, judging from the negative publicity that has hounded him. His current image is a far cry from when he started out in the business.
Bieber started out by appearing in YouTube videos and was famously discovered through those videos before he got signed to a record deal. The Canadian singer and songwriter released his debut EP, "My World," in November 2009. It became certified platinum in the U.S. He was the first artist to debut with seven songs in the Billboard Hot 100.
His full length studio album, "My World 2.0" was released in March 2010. Again, it reached platinum status in the U.S. and debuted at the top of the charts in several countries. He went on his first tour soon after.
He released his second studio album "Under the Mistletoe" in 2012, another chart topper in the U.S.
He released his third studio album in June 2012, entitled "Believe." It signalled a change for Bieber, in that he said goodbye to his teeny-bopper image. He has won in the American Music Awards and has been nominated for the Grammy's. He also has a very solid fanbase, called the "Beliebers."
His run-in with the law began in 2012 when a neighbor accused him of reckless driving. He was also charged in Brazil in 2013 for vandalism. Another neighbor alleged Bieber threw eggs at his home in January 2014, causing thousands of dollars in damage. Later that same month, Bieber was arrested in Miami Beach with Khalil on a suspected DUI, driving with an expired license and resisting arrest.
Again in September 2014, he was arrested and charged with dangerous driving and assault after a collision between his vehicle and a minivan.
From the teen boy-next door image, he has become the quintessential bad boy, even earning the label, "Most Annoying Celebrity of 2014."
Bieber has been making several public apologies and seems to be promising to do better, to grow more, this year. Everyone will just have to wait and see whether he does deliver on those promises.
