'Killer Instinct' DLC news, updates: New character confirmed; next major update now available for Xbox One and PC
The latest DLC for Microsoft's free-to-play fighting game, "Killer Instinct," has been revealed, and it introduces a new character in the roster.
Microsoft Studios and developer Iron Galaxy recently announced that Kilgore is the game's latest fighter, and he will be playable starting January 2017. The said character is a cyborg who will reportedly bring major firepower to the game. Further details on his capabilities and how to unlock him will be shared in the coming weeks, the dev team added. The game's official YouTube channel also uploaded a video about the new patch, giving a first look at the new fighter.
As reports point out, Kilgore can be compared to "Killer Instinct" series veteran Fulgore because of their similarities. Microsoft Studios community manager Rukari Austin even mentioned on Twitter that Kilgore is an UltraTech-developed amalgamation, which means that a few of his animations are borrowed from other notable characters in the game. "You'll see more tomorrow, but the 1st thing that will stand out is that Kilgore is a 're-imagining' if you will. A UT amalgamation," Austin's post last Monday reads. While Kilgore won't arrive until next year, players will get a sneak peak at the new addition very soon.
On another note, the game's next major update is now up for PC and Xbox One. Update 3.6 added several new features, including the ability to choose Survival vs. AI or Shadows without owning one. New skins, including platinum and gold ones, are also part of the patch.
As for general changes in gameplay, the update now makes breaking a combo restore 50 percent of damage, compared to 100 percent before. Passive potential damage regeneration has been tweaked, and will now begin after three seconds. Additionally, many character-specific changes were added to the game's features.
