'Killing Floor 2' Release Date: Game Launched on Steam Early Access Offers More Variety in Characters
"Killing Floor 2," the second installment of the Tripwire Interactive game that was launched in 2009, is due for release on Tuesday, April 21, via Steam Early Access.
Reviewers have been describing it as a good follow-up to the earlier game.
The upcoming game follows nearly the same format as its 2009 version. However, where "Killing Floor 2" differs from its previous version is that it has more variety in the form of characters, enemy types, and perks offered to players.
As for the rest, the game still has 10 rounds like its predecessor with a Boss enemy at the end. Each round the player is faced with hordes of zombies which they have to kill to get to the next round. As usual there's a lot of shooting and slashing of zombies and tons of blood in each and every room.
The events in the new game are set a month after the first "Killing Floor," with the venue shifting to mainland Europe. Here the zombie outbreak caused by Horzine Biotech's experiment has overwhelmed many countries of the European Union. The press kit for the game revealed that "Specimen clones have overrun everything and civilization is crumbling. As for communications, governments and the military they are almost non-existent and the lucky few who had managed to survive have gone into hiding."
The game retains much of the elements of its predecessor. Six players enter the battlefield after picking a class. Then in each round, they have to kill a number of zombies after which they get more supplies and upgrade their weapons in the trading post.
Once a round is over, you go onto the next and face another horde of zombies until, finally, you get to face the Boss in the last round.
The basic edition of "Killing Floor 2" is priced at $30 on Steam Early Access. A Digital Deluxe Edition of the game along with new character DJ Scully will land later. That edition will also have a voice pack and set of skins.
