Kim Kardashian on New Platinum Blonde Hair: Madonna Inspired New Hair Color Style
Kim Kardashian West, 34, debuted her platinum blonde hair at the Balmain Fashion Show during Paris Fashion Week, and it seemed everyone could not stop talking about it. Lovers and haters abounded in copious quantities, going from the extreme of totally hating it to totally loving it.
Kim said her new hair color was inspired by her idol, Madonna, the "Living for Love" singer. She said she had long wanted to try going platinum blonde for the longest time because of Madonna.
She told People Magazine: "I've always had this image of Madonna with platinum hair in my references folder on my computer and I've been waiting a long time to try the look. I thought what better time than right now for Paris Fashion Week. It was a really last-minute decision.''
Madonna, along with Marilyn Monroe, has been and still is one of the most iconic blondes ever.
While Kim had tried going blonde in the past, this was the blondest she had even been. Who was responsible for executing this transformation? Hair Lorri Goddard and, apparently, she got it in just one try. Since then, Kim has already touched up the color.
Always a trendsetter, the extreme transformation has sparked a trend worldwide for women to go platinum blonde, even if they have dark hair to start with. Amy Fish, a colorist at George Northwood, said 2015 will be the year of the blondes. "Kim's look will give brunettes the confidence to make the leap to blonde," she said.
"Women are feeling braver and bolder; more independent than ever. We worry less about being a stereotype and more about how we feel and look for ourselves. Going dark to blonde is such a bold move, and current celebrities such as Kim making the change encourages women to do the same," Fish said.
