Although it has already been scheduled for a definite release date next year, "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue" may be delayed by the ongoing Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike.

The union of performers and supporters are picketing for fair contracts, transparency, and for video game companies to take their employees' pleas and proposals seriously. The strike is being taken against Electronic Arts (EA) as well as 10 other videogame companies that include Disney Character Voices, Inc.

This could significantly derail ongoing work on "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue" although the studio itself has yet to release an official statement about the matter.

Meanwhile, the remastered collection is still available for pre-order from the Square Enix online store and is still set for a Jan. 24, 2017 worldwide release. The collection will include three popular games from the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise that have been made compatible for the PlayStation 4 (PS4). These titles include "Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance HD," "Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover," and "Kingdom Hearts 0.2 Birth by Sleep – A Fragmentary Passage."

A limited edition has also been announced which will come with a free Disney collector's pin that features King Mickey and Sora. However, the exclusive pin will only be available from the online store and participating retailers while supplies last, so fans who wish to avail of it should act fast. Pre-ordering the game comes with a free upgrade to the limited edition.

In other news, the Oct. 12 issue of "Dengeki PlayStation", as cited by KH13.com, featured an interview with director Tetsuya Nomura wherein he hinted on the hidden secret that can be found in the box art designs for "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix," "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix," and "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue." The art links the three aforementioned games to the upcoming new game sequel, "Kingdom Hearts 3."

Here is the official trailer for "Kingdom Hearts 2.8 HD Final Chapter Prologue" presented at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 back in September. The trailer also features a remixed version of Utada Hikaru's "Simple and Clean."
