Square Enix might be teaming up with Marvel for the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3."

While the company has already released a few trailers for the fantasy RPG, there's still much to learn about "Kingdom Hearts 3." Two events on Jan. 26 lead to speculations that Marvel heroes will soon be introduced to the fan-favorite franchise.

On Jan. 25, Square Enix and Marvel both posted tweets about an upcoming announcement. Although a Marvel or Square Enix event on their own is not much to bat an eye at, the tweets were posted at the same date and time — fueling speculations that the two companies could be collaborating.

Marvel is owned by Disney, so there is a possibility that gamers could soon see Captain America, Iron Man and the rest of the Avengers in the "Kingdom Hearts 3" game. The two companies didn't give any clue on their respective events, but that hasn't stopped excited fans from sharing their thoughts about the possible collaboration via social media.

Earlier this month, game director Tetsuya Nomura shared an update on the "Kingdom Hearts 3" development. Nomura revealed that their schedule is so busy that they have to place the game in the backburner for a while.

"Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue" recently made its worldwide debut, so the team will focus on "Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix" next. Square Enix would then prioritize the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra World Tour, the D23 Disney Expo and the development for "Kingdom Hearts Unchained X Season 2."

Despite the delayed release, Nomura assured fans that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be worth the long wait. "I am very sorry, but to that degree I will make a game that will meet your expectations," he told Weekly Famitsu. "Last year, I didn't put out much information on either title, but this year I want to show our progress at an event somewhere. The release of the titles themselves have still have a way to go. But there are many titles releasing this year, if you can wait for any 'surprises."
