'Kingdom Hearts 3' news, update: game not coming anytime soon, as per Tetsuya Nomura
It looks like there is still a long way to go before "Kingdom Hearts 3" sees the light of day, at least based on director Tetsuya Nomura's latest statement about the game.
In an interview with Famitsu, Nomura said that it will be a while before the highly anticipated title and the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" hit the shelves.
"Last year, I didn't put out much information on either title, but this year I want to show our progress at an event somewhere," he said via the translation provided by Gematsu.
"The release of the titles themselves have still have a way to go. But there are many titles releasing this year, if you can wait for any surprises," he went on to say.
It was heavily rumored in the past that "Kingdom Hearts 3" will be released this March. However, this is made more unlikely as there is still a ton of work that needs to be done.
Nomura said that there are still worlds that are "untouched," but said that production is moving forward, but not to a point they can be shown off just yet. "There is still some way to go," he went on to say.
The game director did assure that the production for "Kingdom Hearts 3" and the "Final Fantasy 7 Remake" is "steadily progressing," but he noted that "the wait will be a bit longer."
Nomura apologized for this, but assured fans that the titles will "meet your expectations." His statement seems to suggest that there might have been a hiccup during the development that caused the delay.
Either way, it looks like Square Enix will finally break their silence on "Kingdom Hearts 3" this year. After all, the developer wanted all the focus on "Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue" set to come out this month after being delayed from its original September 2016 release.
