'Kingdom Hearts 3' release date spoilers: new song from Utada Hikaru still unconfirmed
Rumors about the involvement of Japanese pop star Utada Hikaru on the upcoming "Kingdom Hearts 3" soundtrack is still unconfirmed.
Previous reports claimed that the Japanese singer will be working on a new original song for the next installment of the "Kingdom Hearts" video game franchise. But the singer's father, Teruzane Utada, clarified the report through a latest Twitter post, saying that the decision about their involvement has yet to be finalized.
Fans of the action role-playing game series reacted to the statement from Hikaru's camp, saying that they might have preempted the news too soon when they answered a fan inquiry via Twitter saying that they already began working on the song. But others believed the singer had to retract the previous news because of the non-disclosure agreement with Square Enix.
This will not be the first time that Hikaru will lend her musical talent to the "Kingdom Hearts" franchise if the deal with the game developer pushes through, since she already wrote and performed two songs titled "Hikari/Simple and Clean" for the 2002-released "Kingdom Hearts" game. She also wrote and sang "Passion/Sanctuary" for 2006's "Kingdom Hearts 2."
On the other hand, a report from GameNGuide claimed that Sora will be tasked to gather all the seven Guardians of Light in "Kingdom Hearts 3." This means that he will be assisted by several new characters who will be introduced in the upcoming game. According to the report, there is a big possibility to see Disney characters Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Mickey Mouse and Goofy to help Sora in his quest.
Other returning characters for "Kingdom Hearts 3" include Master Xehanort, Master Eraqus Riku, as well as King Mickey. The game might also feature other popular Disney characters like Baymax and Rapunzel as well.
Square Enix has yet to reveal the official release date of "Kingdom Hearts 3" in the coming days.
